Well, come on.

THIS is a matter of public interest.

You wish to sully the name of a non-political private individual, an 'ordinary' man in the street who 'dares' to ask questions and make comments about those who govern us.
Out rolls the party propaganda machine (a typical Aberystwyth Al ploy - remember Jayne Sullivan, his main rival, accused of being a Tory/Tory Supporter etc?).

Well that's it.
Now we'll see who survives the mudbath.

Since the deed is done there's no harm in me saying that I'll be looking into every declaration of interest that Cllr McCarthy has made over a particular period, and of course meetings he's attended.

This might take a while.

Start sweating someone, just in case something interesting turns up.

Oh - and this isn't a battle for amateurs like you Eddies.

The SFO should be able to resolve this and if not should be plenty of adverse media coverage.

You're not going to deflect this one Sue.

During the time Mr (Cllr) McCarthy was Leader how many contracts did the Council enter into with the firm of Estate Agents that Sue Roberts was deeply involved with ????????????????

And I did do something about the car.
Unfortunately my colleagues failed to, and there was more of them than me, and in those days thas council WAS a democracy, not the political farm it is today (and was before 2008).

Now, what's going to happen between now and 2017 is that the citizens of ther Borough are going to be availed of sufficient informataion and questions that by the time Caerphilly becomes part of our addresses an awful lot of people will become of the opinion that our councillors - in particular those of the Labour Party - arer rersponsible for BG's demise, due to the extremely poor handling they've made of things over the years.

Tecthy rants from you don't help your case.

Oh - and as you'll notice from the time of my posts I was home early last night.
In fact, I might never even have gone out.

Now go and have one of your 'Downfall Moments' as I call them.
You know, where you sit down, go volcanic and scream "Will no-one rid me of this danger to the Party and its candidates??"

Stormtrooper - but hardly in stilettos eh?   Laughing

Mr Legge,
You claim that you had an anonymous telephone call regarding Ian Jones and the Miners Strike. What I canít work out is why you take it up on yourself to hound a person over an anonymous phone call.  Not only that but there must be hundreds of Ian Jonesís in this area, itís a very common name, I know several myself, so why keep questioning just this one on this forum? How do you know your anonymous caller wasnít referring to a completely different person?

I donít care that you didnít like my Ďtin of beans and a packet of biscuits outside Tescoí comment. It was a fact, people thought by doing Ďtheir bití they where helping the fight and Iím sure the miners were very grateful, but it just wasnít enough.

I really think you should just stop with your witch-hunt and let the past remain in the past.

And just one other thing, before I get accused of being a strikebreaker, I was never a striking miner I was not even a miner. During the strike I was still in school. My father was not a miner; he worked in Ebbw Vale steel works, which was closed, under a Labour Government.

Pre-empted that attack well I think.

This is what happens to anyone who dares voice opposition to The Mob er... sorry The Party. Mud slung all over the place.

Jayne Sullivan was implied to be a Tory (for daring to seek to represent the people of Blaenau Gwent against the chosen one, whio ironically still lives in er.... Aberystwyth, in partnership with er.... a Lib Dem I believe ?).

"Ian Jones" and 'strikebreaker' are mentioned in the same sentence a number of times.

Now T-bone's spiked whatever gun they would try to fire at him.

People are definitely getting wise to the snake-eyes.
(Mmmm....... 'Eddies speak with f**ked tongue' - has a certain ring about it I suppose).

Laughing

PS apols to T-Bone for an apparent hijack of the post, but 'Ian Jones' (ie. the contributor) started out by expressing opinions which The Party didn't like, and when Ian stood his ground and became too much for them to handle you get - well you've seen how it develops.

PPS Cllr Hedley McCarthy doesn't own a car (probably can't drive - apart from us into Caerphilly's clutches).
No wonder there's no rush to rebuild the multi-storey car park.

Rocke, regards Ebbw Vale's merger with Caerphilly, rumour on the streets has Rhondda Cynon Taff as favourites.

I'd imagine Caerphilly lodged an objection to a merger with BG.

However, it's a double-whammy for them - Torfaen's actually worse on a number of fronts.

Highly unlikely - unless you mean Caerphilly and RCT 'merging'.

If RCT 'merge' with BG and Torfaen you'd have the daft situation of one council's area splitting another's almost in two. (Caerphilly is East of RCT, West of BG/Torfaen and goes all the way up almost to Merthyr).

Merthyr, BG and Torfaen might be a goer but unfortunately all three are smaller councils and two of them have well-documented problems/issues.
Merthyr probably couldn't handle the other two.

The problem with 'multi-valley' councils is the tribalism. That's always been the problem with BG.
Everything's EV (if you don't live in the Ebbw Fawr valley), or it's s*d the others, deprive them of funding etc. (if you do).

There's more Labour Councillors representing Ebbw Fach constituencies than any other valley, yet Aber's actually got worse.
Plenty of promises though, just like they promise to keep fighting for the rail link.

(Wow, has this thread lost its way or what?)

Rocke you keep on about a Rail Link from Abertillery yet when you were told that the Ebbw Vale line was to have †more carriages to cope with demand your words "Hmm so more people are travelling from Ebbw Vale to Cardiff to spend their money †Its no wonder we're in a mess"
Cant have it both ways Mr Rocke you either believe a Rail Link from Abertillery would be a good or bad thing
Most importantly A train station in Abertillery would attract shoppers to spend elsewhere, and others looking for work and pleasure
Money recently spent on the town itself has done very little to attract local purses and pockets

Obviously not Thomas Edward Legge of our Electoral Register.

It is however typical of the complete and utter lack of foresight and sense of councillors in my experience.

Ebbw Vale has nothing to offer people in Cardiff, but Cardiff has a lot to offer the people of EV (shops for one thing), so there'll be a net drain of cash etc.

Abertillery and its surrounds, being an area of Heritage and outstanding natural beauty would, with a relatively small amount of investment - marketing etc. - attract people from Cardiff to the area, and would very likely result in a net income, given that Aber would be open 365 days/year, not simply internationals etc.

It's clear you don't have a clue if you can't understand the reasoning behind that, and that my comments are far from contradictory. In fact they fit together perfectly.

Really, really must do better.
Although wait - it's far too late now isn't it? The die is cast. BG handed over to Caerphilly because councillors over the years didn't have any of the above reasoning.

PS the local economy would thrive not simply through the tourism element.
Remember when Peter Walker got the roads up here?
A lovely little housing bubble.
Imagine how much the property market would boom with a rail link.

Imagine how much money the Estate Agents would be earning !!!
Now - isn't that a good enough reason?  Laughing

Ah, but some have left employment, haven't they  Crying or Very sad
