Ok so where do I start
My name is Robert Courtney born 1949 lived at 39 Griffing Street Six Bells
My Fatherís name Harold Mother Ruby madden name Francis
Two Sisters Mary (Richardson) who now lives in Abercarn

I also had a twin brother Phillip who drowned at the aprox age of 4

Having read many of the threads there are a lot of memories surrounding my life as a young boy even some so close to me I felt whoever was righting them must have known me
I remember John Bryant (Lanky) from school does what it said on the tin tall boy but extremely good artist
When I read this I remembered this was the boy in the same class in the same school it must be there canít be two
Memories are like little sparks of light when one light up it generates another one
I remember Chris and Clive Davies who lived upper Griffing Street
George Bancroft Griffing Street Idris Flook Aeriel Street Murray Walker Ian and Lin Edwards
Mary and Jean Howles
I think thatís enough to spark some memories somewhere out there

Just noticed this thread, I don't remember you but I'm probably the same age as mary.
I remember the day your brother drowned if I remember it was in the warm pond, there was a local name for them but my grey matter is addled nowadays and I can't remember. For some reason I always thought (wrongly) it was your sister who had drowned, don't know why.
Reading these old threads always triggers a memory or two so thanks for that.

Hi Robert, though not from Six Bells I do remember your brother John. We worked together on the forestry commision for a few years, and even though we didnt see each other very often over the pst 50 years or so, we still recognised each other whenever we did meet.So sad when I was told he had passed away, such a lovely man and boy as we were when we knew each other well.

Hello pent boy

Were you in Bryngwyn 58/59/60
I also remember John very well, I remember also the day Roberts Brother died in the warm pond. It was very sad. A lot of the earlier memories are still very.
Young at heart, Slightly older in other places.

Hello to you Uskside, no I didnt attend Bryngwyn  I wasted my education in the county school leaving at 15 before sitting any exams much to my regret later on in life, having to work really hard and long hours untill I was 65, while my eldest brother continued his education and took early retirement at 50 from his employment as a teacher. Hey ho, thats what comes of not listening to your parents when you should. Crying or Very sad

Hi Pentboy, I too left the Bryngwyn before sitting the O levels and like you I will probably have to work until I drop....but I have been 3 times around the world. Been married to some amazing women. Appeared in movies and TV series as an extra. Ive been rich, but more often poor, though always happy with my life.
My sister on the other hand went to Abertillery Grammar and left with A levels Worked for a couple of years in the pen factory then married, had 3 kids and died at 35 of cancer.  To quote in french...cest la vie!

Hi there Haydn,so sorry to hear about your sister, Im sure she was in school the same time as me but maybe 1 or 2 years behind me as the name Eason rang a bell immediately. Was it Janet as that is the name that is standing out. Of coarse from previous posts you will know that I worked with Jack on the buses.
