Personal information

Son of William and Emily Morris. Lindum Eric Morris was on his first voyage after his sister got him the job because he was determined to follow his older brothers and go to sea. He had tried to join the Royal Navy but the recruiting officer realized that he was lying about his age and sent him home to his mother. He died doing what he wanted to do but his sister never forgave herself.

POWELL, WILLIAM ARTHUR (MM) - Sergeant - 5512445 - 9th Battalion Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment) - died 6th September 1944 - age 25 - son of William Henry and Ada Powell, husband of Betty Mary Powell, Brondeg Bungalow, Aberbeeg, - buried at Coriano Ridge War Cemetery, Italy reference, - V A 3 - commemorated on the Abertillery Central Memorial, Somerset Street, Abertillery.

If anyone is looking into this, His sister (my Grandmother) still lives in Crumlin, I have additional details to add here if anyone is interested.

The Abertillery Field Ambulance pictured in the South Wales Gazette dated 20th October 1916.
Some of the locals identified are: -
Back row - (2) Arthur Strickland, (3) Gilbert Brain
Front Row - (1) Andrew Jenkins, (3) Ieuan Phillips, (4) Tom Holder, (5) Tom Cordey.

I have just found your register of people from Abertillery than served in the forces. Four of the entries are for Brickell. My great grandfather was Thomas Brickell. Is there any records of where he lived in Abertillery and were Fredick or John related? I know the other Thomas was his son.
