More on Lydia Hammond

Hello again

Ernest Wilson married my Great Aunt Lydia Hammond in 1919.

Family anecdote tells that Ernest Wilson owned hardware shops and motor garages in the Abertillery area and was possibly the first motor car dealer in this part of Monmouthshire.

I can see references to an Erne Wilson on another part of the web site, Past Images:

It would be incredible if these were pictures of my great uncle’s garage business?  Does anyone know about Erne Wilson? Any information would be so appreciated.

Ernest and Lydia had two sons:  Ken and Harry Wilson.  Has anyone out there any information about them?  They would have been born in the early to mid 1920’s.

Fingers crossed this rings some memory bells......

I was in the County School at the same time as Harry and Ken. Harry was a good runner and played on the wing for the school team. Ken had a serious accident and had a plate inserted into his skull. The garage in the photograph was a thriving business and the family hardware shop was almost opposite in Alexandra Road. I was born in 1924 and was a few years younger than Harry and maybe 2 years older than Ken who was friendly with my younger brother.
