So the Fireworks display at the park went down like a damp squip with a loss of £4,500.
Perhaps the lack of refreshments and the `long` walk required to get to the venue, as parking at the park was prevented, had a lot to do with the poor attendance.
I know my family decided to go elsewhere this year because of this and I'm sure that many other families, who in the past have considered this to be a `family evening out` felt the same.

I agree, not really a very sociable event altogether. no parking, its a long wlk if you have a family of little ones in tow. No interlude and refreshments, half the fun was when the lights came on and you could meet up with other families and friends whilst the kids queued up for hotdogs and a drink. Holding the event on a sunday was not the best idea but I suppose they would have too asthere are fewer shoppers in Tesco but not great for the parents if they had to work that night or early the following day and most families like to get their kids off to bed early for school not easy if they are wound up like tops after the fireworks.

The poor attendance was contibuted to people watching the show free of charge from various advantage points in Abertillery, the vantage points have always been there before, I lived in one such area when my kids were small but still payed for them to join in the fun at the park.
