| Quote: | A GREAT- GRANDMOTHER from Abertillery is celebrating her 100th birthday this week.
The centenarian, who was born in Bristol but moved to Blaenau Gwent in the mid-40s, is celebrating the milestone with family and friends on May 29 with a small gathering at the care home she lives in.
Rose Chivers is well-known around Abertillery, and used to sing alongside her husband who played the accordion.
Her son, Barry, said Rose worked most of her life and spent a number of years in the Dunlop Semtex factory.
For most of her life Rose lived in Cross Street, Abertillery, and even stayed in a flat above Lloyds TSB bank before moving to the Rookery care home.
