Well What a poor display of lights we have up this year for Christmas in town. They dont work a majority of the time.... Well at least they got them up the right way this year. I think its about time that money was spent (and not lined certain people's pockets) and we had some new lights and a more festive display.

Whose pockets have been lined, and with what? Are you suggesting that money is being diverted from the communal pot? Just interested.

In all fairness to BGCBC we had a splendid aray of lights in 2004 in both Church Street and Somerset Street and I have the photos to prove it some were sent in to this site. In 2005 we had the same so it is a case of where have our lights gone this year?
We do have a big problem with anti social behaviour within the town and living close by I did notice that in 2005 many of the lights were destroyed by youths throwing things and smashing the bulbs, I witnesssed the council or whoever were out constantly with cherry pickers trying to replace them in the run up to xmas, over the xmas period I have no idea how many lights were destroyed over the xmas period or whether they could be re-placed this year. |
