Today's Abertillery Town Regeneration meeting were informed that there was good and bad news for the town.
First the bad news the rumour that Iceland is taking the Woolworth site is just that-a rumour.
The good news is that work will commence on Wetherspoons in the Autumn with an opening date 0f 15th January 2010.

Excellent news indeed. I'd heard recently, from a 'source'  , that the plans had been sent back to Wetherspoons because they'd been with the council for over a year.
Can't wait for the first taste of Abbots or Marstons and curry night on a Thursday.....I'm drooling already.

Can I get a pint of decent ale with the curry in The Dolls House or will I have to succumb to the usual lager and cream flow?

There seems to be an inertia creeping into our relationship with business, having given the matter careful consideration and having spoken to various influential people during the last six days, I firmly believe that the ex-Woolworths site would be ideal for Iceland. I am not prepared to roll over on this one and I am taking the matter forward.

Thanks Sheepseyes, if you'd posted 3 hours ago you might have saved me a stamp, let's hope you are right and if so you are someway advanced of the Town Manager and the council's regeneration dept.
