Like  it says on the lid, activity is minimal the positive is it's less comatose than the cwmtillery forum.
There must be more memories like I remember aber before rocke became a councillor  Very Happy  etc.
I pop in from time to time even though there's nothing left for me in Aber, just a few graves and some happy memories, even my youngest brother has emigrated to ebbw vale, I never thought I'd live to see the day!

Welsh people are not generally lost for words. There are 1060 members yet only maybe ten contribute. When people join they give no location, occupation or interests, why? There are so many topics possible, something for everyone. I'm pleased that the Government has frozen fuel duty, anyone out there feel the same or is there someone who thinks they should go ahead with the rise? Maybe there are some who couldn't care either way?

I feel sure that most of the members aren't welsh but migrants who've left to either follow the coal or to visit pastures new.
Many strike a chord with me in that they arrived in wales via somerset
(is that why there's a somerset street in aber) and got to somerset from durham.
The only one who seems to have a lot to write, but little to say, is eddie ***** but I don't read his stuff anymore for what seems to be universally accepted reasons.
TBH it saddens me, why even carolyn seems to be missing nowadays.

I think you will find that the flavour of the month is "abertillery past and present ", maybe people have had enough of the political bickering, or perhaps they just wanted something different, who knows.

Hi Stoob, as you already know I am like you and look at both most days and also one or two others, I was just trying to think of a reason why the board has gone quiet, another one is perhaps its supposed to be summer and people might be away.

Sorry mate can't call it. Don't detect any feel good factor down the town and the BBC didn't help with their take last week.

Now the Elections are over there is very little in the way of fresh topics in the town that have not already been covered, we will just have to wait and see what comes up.
I for one miss the contributions of Anthony Earl Wiliams, he may have been very controversial but he certainly kept the debates going with his remarks.
I'm sure if he toned it down a little there is still a place here for him!
I enjoy participation of the general and political forums of Aber/online and also as was mentioned the Aber past and Present group on F/book.
I really hope politics does not rear it's head on the latter as it is an excelent place to view everyone's photo's and stories all on the one page, whilst Aber/online is a very good forum for more serious debate and I hope it continues..

The topic was about the police dealing with anti social behaviour, all they showed was a load of boarded up shops.

Cant imagine there are many towns in the UK that dont have some boarded up shops with all the out of town shopping malls about, and what has that got to do with anti social behaviour, you get that in the big cities where all the shops are doing great trade as well as in the valley towns.

Totally agree "Pent" but I imagine complaints have gone into the Beeb over that.
Find an uplifting non-political topic an I'll contribute.
